What license should I ask to see?
Tennessee does not hand out a special mold license to print on a truck. Ask what registration the provider carries for the county, and ask to see the insurance before work starts.
If someone will not show insurance, that is your answer.
How will the rest of the house be protected?
Plastic on the doorway, a clean path, and a plan for the dust. You should be able to picture where you will walk while the room is open.
“We will be careful” is not a plan. “The bath door gets sealed and the hall floor stays covered” is a plan.
When do I see the price?
After they have seen the moisture. A number given from the porch, before a meter comes out, is a sales line.
You can decline the work. The introduction from this site is not a contract with the provider.
Will my homeowner policy pay?
Some policies pay for a sudden leak and not for a slow one. That is between you and the insurer. A pro can note what they found. They cannot promise a claim.
Keep the photos you already took. Adjusters ask for the date the water started, if you know it.
What should be true when they leave?
The water source is identified, the opened area is contained or closed up as agreed, and you have the scope in writing. A fresh smell from fragrance is not a result.
If drying equipment stays behind, you should know who picks it up and what “dry” means on their meter.
